Gus and I started the Sunday by getting on the light rail train near the Mall of America and going up to the Metrodome. We got there about 2 and 1/2 hours before the game so we got to mingle with the tailgaters. They make a big deal about the pre game party and I'm not sure some of them even make it to the game. Above is a well lubricated gentleman attempting a field goal with a nerf football. It did slide a little left, but he did show enough promise that Brendan Taman immediately put him on the Bombers negotiation list.

We got into the stadium a little early and were able to watch all of the warmups. We were fairly high up in the stands, but still had a pretty good view. Little did we know what we were in store for, as it is very rare that two NFL all time records would be broken that day.

What you may not have seen on television that day is that in fact the Vikings were playing a team of mascots. That may have had something to do with Adrian Peterson's 296 yards rushing. In the picture above you can see the mascots fumbling around on the field.

After the game Gus and I got on a very crowded train and made our way back to Bloomington. We got into our Hotel room fairly quickly so that we could watch the Colts-Patriots game. We hunkered down and had an evening of pizza and football. The next day we had the long ride back to Carman, but we were able to tolerate it knowing that we had had a great weekend watching sports and were able to witness NFL history.
